1. Do I have to select one of your menus or can I create my own?
We love flexibility! Catering by George works with you to create any menu you desire. We can make recommendations or take direction entirely from you. Special requests can be easily accommodated.
2. What's your chef's specialty? Rather than specialize in a single cuisine, we offer eclectic menus and infuse many styles to make each recipe new and interesting... or produce a favorite family recipe.
3. How do you price your food and services? Our fees for food and beverages are based on the menu selection and the number of people we're serving. This provides the best value for your money. Other services are priced by the number and quality of each unit (tables, linens, etc.) Itemized, written proposals are provided for all services. We do not price food orders per plate.
4. Should I tell my caterer what my budget is or obtain a proposal first? It's always best to share your expectations and what you estimate your budget to be. We can work with you to get the best value for your money and include any extras that are important to you.
5. What if I don't know what I want or need for my event?
That's not a problem. Actually, that's when it's best to work with a professional caterer like Catering by George. We plan and cater events every day and we can provide the planning guidelines for any type of event.
6. How long have you been in business?
Catering by George was founded in 1988, and Executive Chef Jeffrey George has been working in the culinary arts since 1984.
7. How frequently will you meet with me, by phone and in person, to plan my event?
As often you like. We always make a site visit early in the planning process to fully understand the location and services required. We offer unlimited calls and meetings, and encourage all our clients to visit our office and kitchen to sample menu items and meet our staff.
8. How do I know your food is properly stored and prepared?
We operate a certified kitchen and meet all requirements of regular public health inspections in order to maintain our certification and business license. Additionally, our employees attend regular training classes in food preparation and safe handling procedures.
Catering by George is a Women Business Enterprise (WBE) certified business. WBE is the nation's leading advocate of women-owned businesses as suppliers to America's corporations. It also is the largest third-party certifier of businesses owned and operated by women in the United States. We are also an active member of the Better Business Bureau of Greater Houston.
9. Are you involved in the Houston community?
Yes. We are longtime supporters of several non-profit organizations, including Citizens for Animal Protection (CAPS), The Assistance League of Houston (a support group for women and children), and Goodwill Industries, and the Better Business Bureau of Greater Houston.
10. Who are some of your clients?
Our clientele ranges from Houstonians hosting parties in their homes or offsite locations to large Fortune 500 corporations requiring daily meal service in their offices. We are also known for our work in providing long-term food service contracts for production crews and training classes. We would be happy to provide you with a list of current references, if you like.

Here's a quick checklist of items to consider when working with a caterer:
Event Description
Begin by describing your planned event. What's the occasion? Who are your guests (friends, family, clients, etc.) and what time would you like the food served? How many people do you plan to invite? Where will the event be held? What time of day will your guests arrive?
Menu Selection
Do you have a menu already in mind or would you like the caterer to make recommendations?
Type of Service
Do you want a seated meal with servers or a buffet-style service where people can help themselves? Or a combination?
Budget
Do you have a fixed budget or are you flexible and can offer the caterer a price range to work within?
Priorities
What's most important to you? Where do you want to spend your dollars (the food, beverages, decorations, flowers)? Perhaps you want high-end food items and no alcoholic beverages, or you'd like incredible displays and mid-range food selections.
Expectations
What are your goals for the event? Do you want the emphasis on dancing and entertainment with a short meal service? Or, do you want the meal service to be the focus of the event with an extended service time?
Rentals & Services
Do you have everything you need to support the event? A professional caterer like Catering by George can make arrangements for the facility, parking, furnishings, tableware, decorations, entertainment and anything else you need to make your event run smoothly.
Site Visit
A good caterer will request a site visit before planning the details of your event. Understanding space limitations and the room flow will help your caterer make recommendations.
